Uttarakhand Landslide: After Nepal, now rains in Almora district of Uttarakhand after rain A mountain of grief fell on one family due to the landslide. A large amount of debris came down from a mountain and directly entered a house in Udayuda Gram Panchayat of Hawalbagh development on Tuesday (September 1, 2026) morning. In this accident, a mother and her two children who were in the house were buried under the debris. The administration has informed that all three have died.

Two children died along with their mother

The deceased have been identified as Prema Devi (aged 41), Manish (aged 17) and Kalpana (aged 19). Prema Devi was the wife of Rajendra Ram, while Manish and Kalpana were his children. As three members of the same family died due to this accident, mourning has spread in the area.

Debris from the mountain directly into the house

After the rain in the area, it has been said that the mountain part has collapsed. A large amount of soil and debris came down from the mountain. As the debris quickly entered the residential house, the three occupants of the house did not get a chance to escape and were buried under the debris. The local administration and disaster management system were alerted as soon as the incident was reported.

Rescue operation by SDRF

SDRF and District Disaster Management Team rushed to the spot on getting information about the incident. Rescue teams cleared the debris and started searching for the people trapped in the house. After great efforts, the three were pulled out from under the rubble. But by then all three had died. Rescue teams recovered all three bodies.

Confirmation of the incident by the District Collector

Almodya Collector Anshul Singh informed that three people died in this accident. He said that SDRF and Disaster Response Team were immediately dispatched after the administration received information about debris entering a house after rain in Udayuda. It was also clarified by the administration that three bodies were found during the rescue operation.

Process of assistance to the affected family

After this tragedy, the administration has started the process of providing financial and other assistance to the affected family as per rules. This incident has once again raised the issue of safety of the citizens in the background of the threat of landslides in the mountainous areas due to rain. A 41-year-old mother and her two sons, aged 17 and 19, died simultaneously in this accident in Udayuda, and the village is in mourning.
