Addressing the gathering, CPI leaders alleged that people from different sections of the society were facing difficulties due to the policies of the government. They demanded better employment opportunities, education, food security and social harmony.
Former Rajya Sabha member and CPI leader Binoy Vishwam told IANS that people from different parts of the country have gathered in Delhi to demand change.
Viswam said, “Look at the people. They have come from every part of the country. From North and South. From East and West. They are real Indians. They are the people of India. They liberated India. They made the Constitution. Now they are demanding change. Their slogan is 'change is necessary'. This is what the country wants.”
He alleged that the country is facing problems to unemployment, food, housing and education. “There is no employment, food, housing and education. 70 years have passed, but people are still dying of hunger. The examination system has completely collapsed. The entire examination system is in the grip of corruption,” he said.
Viswam said, “This is a government of corporates and robbers. This government is not ruling for India, but for Trump and Netanyahu. So we want a government that rules for the country and the people of India.”
Vishwam said, “The present government is not a government of the people. It is a government of the rich. It is a government that spreads communal hatred. That is why we want a government of brotherhood and unity. That is why one lakh people from every corner of India reached the country's capital Delhi by all means and they say that this country needs change.”
CPI leader Annie Raja said that people from different sections of the society are going through difficult times due to the anti-people policies of the BJP-led government at the Centre.
Raja said, “At present, the people of India are going through a very difficult situation due to the anti-people policies and programs of the fascist BJP government at the Centre. These policies are against the interests of workers, farmers, students, youth and women.”
He said that due to the “wrong policies” of the government, people from every section of the Indian society are facing difficulties. CPI Rajya Sabha member P. Santosh Kumar said the main slogan of the rally was 'change is necessary' and claimed that people across the country liked it.
He said, “'Change is necessary' is the main slogan under which this rally is being organised. We expect a large number of people to participate. This slogan is on the lips of every household and every person in the country.”
