Lucknow: The pace of monsoon does not seem to be slowing down in Uttar Pradesh yet. Even in the last phase of monsoon season, rain continues in many parts of the state. Expressing the possibility of rain and thundershowers in many areas of the state on September 2, 2026, the Meteorological Department has advised people to be cautious.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain and lightning in different parts of Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh. In view of this, an alert has been issued in many districts.
Rain alert in 24 districts
The effect of this changed weather pattern can be seen in about 24 districts of the state. There is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning in many areas from Sonbhadra to Pilibhit. Apart from the capital Lucknow, special caution has been advised regarding the weather in Barabanki, Ayodhya, Unnao, Hardoi, Sitapur and Bahraich. There is a possibility of lightning along with rain in these areas.
Moderate to heavy rain in these districts
The effect of rain can also be seen in Prayagraj division and surrounding areas. Moderate to heavy rain is expected in Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Fatehpur and Rae Bareli. Due to rain, waterlogging may occur in low-lying areas. Local administration and people need to remain alert in view of sudden changes in weather.
Chances of rain in these areas also
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. It is expected to be cloudy and rain in the surrounding areas including Varanasi, Ghazipur, Jaunpur and Ballia. At some places the rain may suddenly intensify. In such a situation, people have been advised to keep an eye on local weather updates.

The biggest danger along with rain is lightning. When the weather is bad, one should avoid standing in open fields, fields, under trees or near water. It is better to stay at a safe place when thunderstorms start. Farmers and people living in rural areas need to take special precautions. It is also important to maintain distance from mobile towers, electric poles and tall isolated structures during times of lightning.
