BusinessDesk – Crude Oil Price Today: On the first day of the month i.e. 1st September 2026, there is a rise in Crude Oil Price in the international market. By 8:20 am on Tuesday, the price of WTI crude oil rose by 1.13% to reach $ 86.733 per barrel. Meanwhile, the price of Brent crude increased by 0.88% to $ 91.283 per barrel.
The main reason for this rise in oil prices is believed to be the increasing tension between America and Iran. In such a situation, the biggest question is that if crude oil continues to become expensive, will it affect the prices of petrol and diesel in India?

US-Iran tension increases oil market concerns
Tension has once again increased between America and Iran. US forces target two Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island. In response, Tehran has attacked Jordan and UAE. Due to this development, there is a possibility of further increase in tension in the Middle East, whose direct impact is visible on the international oil market.
US President Donald Trump has also warned of an attack on Kharg Island, Iran's main oil export centre. Kharg Island is an important oil export hub for Iran. In such a situation, any kind of military action here may increase concerns about global oil supply and this may create further pressure on Crude Oil Prices.
Keep an eye on the Strait of Hormuz
The Strait of Hormuz is also in discussion amid US-Iran tension. Despite tensions, some Gulf countries are exporting limited quantities of oil through this route. Iran wants to increase its control over important waterways and for this it has also signed an agreement with Oman. On the other hand, America wants to continue the movement of ships through these waterways without any duty.
For the last few days, America was talking about increasing economic pressure on Iran. Now after the start of new attacks, the situation in the Middle East has become more sensitive. As the fear of a major conflict in this region increases, concerns about oil supply may increase across the world.
Petrol and diesel prices did not change in India today
Despite the rise in crude oil prices in the international market, there has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel in India on September 1. However, if crude remains expensive in the international market for a long time, it may impact domestic fuel prices.
If the price of crude oil again crosses $ 100 per barrel and remains at a high level for a long time, then the possibility of petrol and diesel becoming expensive in India may increase. However, domestic prices are affected not only by international crude but also by many other factors like taxes, value of rupee against dollar and costs of oil companies.
Today's petrol and diesel rates in big cities including Delhi-Mumbai
On September 1, petrol in New Delhi is Rs 102.12 and diesel is Rs 95.20 per liter. In Kolkata, petrol is being sold at Rs 113.51 and diesel at Rs 99.82 per litre. The price of petrol in Mumbai is Rs 111.21 and diesel is Rs 97.83 per liter.
Petrol in Chennai is Rs 107.77 and diesel is Rs 99.55 per liter. In Gurgaon, petrol is priced at Rs 102.97 and diesel at Rs 95.64 per litre, while in Noida petrol is priced at Rs 101.96 and diesel at Rs 95.44 per litre.
What will happen next?
At present, the prices of petrol and diesel are stable in India, but the uncertainty created by the US-Iran tension in the Crude Oil Market will remain under watch. If tension increases in the Middle East and oil supply is affected, crude oil prices may rise further. In such a situation, there may be pressure to increase the prices of petrol and diesel in India also.
