New Delhi: On the night of September 1, when people were sleeping deeply, suddenly a commotion started in a large area from India to Afghanistan. Within no time the earth trembled in many areas. While several tremors were felt one after the other within a few hours in Afghanistan, in the hilly states of India like Jammu-Kashmir and Sikkim, late night earthquakes frightened people. Fortunately, the intensity of these tremors was not very high, due to which there was no news of any major loss of life or property, but the sudden shaking of the ground filled everyone's heart with terror.
Movement felt in two states of India also
Underground movement was also recorded late night in Kishtwar and Mangan of India. An earthquake of 3.9 magnitude struck Sikkim's Mangan district at 1:48 am. At 1:54 pm, mild tremors of 2.4 magnitude were also felt in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir.
The tremors were quite mild; many people lost their sleep due to the shaking of windows and belongings in the silence of the night and they came out of their homes in disbelief.
Increased fear amid natural disasters
This movement in the hilly areas has taken place at a time when the neighboring country Nepal is already facing the brunt of nature. More than 900 people have lost their lives due to the recent devastation and floods there. Districts like Nuwakot and Rasuwa have been completely devastated.
Frequent natural disasters and sudden earth tremors in this region have created deep anxiety and fear among the people of the border areas. At present the administration is keeping an eye on the entire situation.
