Aston Villa have completed the signing of Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, 18, with both clubs confirming the deal. The two sides agreed a transfer worth €55 million for the Senegal international, who moves to Villa Park. Aston Villa saw off interest from RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool to secure Mbaye’s signature. He has signed a five-year contract with the Villans and will wear the No. 19 shirt.
A product of the Paris Saint-Germain academy, Ibrahim Mbaye registered four assists and scored four goals for Luis Enrique’s team across 42 appearances in all competitions. Paris Saint-Germain’s arrivals of Ferran Torres, Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche persuaded Mbaye that he needed to leave the club in order to get more game time.
Paris Saint-Germain allowed Mbaye to undergo his medical with Aston Villa on Saturday. The Senegal international could come up against his former club on Champions League Matchday 6, when Aston Villa host Paris Saint-Germain on December 8. He could make his Premier League debut on Saturday against Hull City.
