In August alone, Vietnam’s largest island off the southern province of An Giang welcomed 1 million tourists, up 28% year-on-year, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.
Phu Quoc’s peak tourist season runs from November to April, coinciding with the island’s dry season, which typically brings sunny weather, calm seas and low humidity.

Phu Quoc has emerged as the leading southern destination for the 5-day National Day holiday which starts from Aug. 29, driven by rising search interest, abundant flight options and competitive airfares.
Tran Thi Bao Thu, marketing and communications director at Vietluxtour, said interest in the island has surged 60% this year.
A four-day, three-night Phu Quoc tour with Vietnam Airlines starts at VND7.3 million (US$280), appealing to groups of friends, families and corporate delegations.
Airfares for the Sept. 2 holiday have also fallen from the same period last year, with fares to Phu Quoc dropping by around VND2.8–3.5 million. Round-trip tickets cost about VND2.6 million on the Ho Chi Minh City-Phu Quoc route and VND4.5 million on the Hanoi-Phu Quoc route.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, airlines have allocated nearly 1 million seats on key tourism routes for the holiday, up 10% year-on-year, as carriers add flights and capacity to Phu Quoc and other major destinations.
The island also benefits from a diverse, high-quality tourism service ecosystem, giving it an advantage despite the ongoing rainy season.
Phu Quoc eyes 8.5 million tourists including 2 million foreigners this year.
