Injustice again with Rinku-Patidar! These 3 players were also ignored for the AFG series

The 3-match T20 series between India and Afghanistan is to start from September 13. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Team India on Monday (September 1) for this series to be held in Delhi. Big players like Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh and Akshar Patel have returned to the team. These players did not go on the Zimbabwe tour. Middle order batsman Rinku Singh has once again been dropped.

Rinku, who made a comeback in the T20 series against Zimbabwe, was played in all three matches but did not get to play many balls. Rinku did not bat in the first match, whereas in the second match, she scored 12 runs in 8 balls before getting out in the last over. In the third T20, Rinku came to bat in the 18th over and scored 25 runs in just 14 balls, which included 2 fours and 1 six. Rinku was earlier kept out of the tour of Ireland and England. Now he has been dropped from the series against Afghanistan.

Rajat Patidar has been ignored again. Patidar has led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to two consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) titles under his captaincy but the selectors are not even looking at him. Patidar scored 501 runs in 14 innings in IPL 2026 at a strike rate of 192.69. Despite this brilliant performance, he is not being included in the T20 team. Apart from Rinku-Patidar, there are three more players with whom the selectors have been unfair.

Krunal Pandya

Experienced all-rounder Krunal Pandya has performed amazingly with bat and ball in the last two IPL seasons. Apart from taking 17 wickets, he scored 109 runs in IPL 2025. In IPL 2026, he scored 226 runs at a strike rate of 145.80 and took 14 wickets. Due to the failure of the spin department led by Axar Patel during the Ireland-England tour, it was expected that Krunal would return to Team India but he was not selected.

Prince Yadav

Right-arm fast bowler Prince Yadav made his ODI and T20 debut for the Indian team after making a splash in IPL 2026. Prince took 5 wickets in 2 T20s against Ireland, while he did not get success on the England tour. After this he played 2 T20s against Zimbabwe and took 2-2 wickets in both. It was understood that he would be given a chance in the T20 series against Afghanistan but he has been kept out.

Kuldeep Yadav

Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is constantly in and out of the Test and ODI playing XI. And he is not even being kept in the T20 squad. Kuldeep played his last T20 International match during the T20 World Cup. There is no 'left-arm wrist spinner' in the world with skills like Kuldeep but he is not considered worthy of selection in the Indian T20 team.
