Tezzbuzz Desk: Team India captain Shubman Gill has given special advice to overcome a major weakness of the Indian batsmen. Given the recent struggle of the Indian batsmen against spin, Gill wants the team to get a chance to prepare better before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be held against Australia. His advice can prove to be important in making the path to the WTC final easier for India.

India is currently at number 5 in the WTC points table. To make it to the WTC finals, it is necessary for the team to reach the top-2. The coming 7-8 test matches will be very important for this. These also include the Border-Gavaskar series of 5 test matches against Australia, which is to be played in India only. Home conditions are considered to be in India's favour, but the performance of Indian batsmen on turn-taking pitches has been a matter of concern in the last few years.

Captain Shubhman Gill wants to remove this weakness. He has advised BCCI to play some Indian batsmen against Australia A and prepare a pitch for them which will see some turn. This can give the batsmen an opportunity to test and improve their preparations against spin. According to TOI report quoting BCCI sources, in the last two years, Indian batsmen have been seen struggling on turn-taking home pitches. In such a situation, Gill believes that creating turn situations can be useful in the match against Australia A. However, BCCI cannot prepare a completely turning track, but a pitch can be made which will provide some turn as the match progresses.

However, there is a big problem in the way of implementing this advice of Gill. Due to the Irani Trophy, very few Test players will be available to play against Australia A. If key Test players are fielded against Australia A, the Rest of India team could be weakened and this could impact the quality of the Irani Trophy matches. Nevertheless, if Gill's plan is implemented, India could get a crucial opportunity to improve their batting shortcomings against spin ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. To remain in the race for the WTC final, India will have to continue performing better in the coming matches and this advice from Gill can become a part of that preparation.
