Golden and crispy from outside, while spicy potato filling from inside, this combination is liked by everyone from children to adults. The special thing is that making it does not require a lot of ingredients or hours of hard work in the kitchen.

This snack made from potatoes and bread can be prepared for breakfast, evening tea or even for unexpected guests. The taste can be made more interesting by adding spices of your choice, green chillies, coriander and some chaat masala. If you also want to make crispy potato bread rolls like the market at home, then note down its easy recipe.

Ingredients to make Potato Bread Roll

  • 4-5 bread slices
  • 3-4 boiled potatoes
  • 1 finely chopped green chilli
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • salt as per taste
  • oil for frying

How to make Potato Bread Roll

First prepare the potato filling
Mash the boiled potatoes well. Now add green chilli, ginger, coriander, red chilli, garam masala, chaat masala and salt and mix well. Keep in mind that there should be no water in the potatoes, otherwise the filling may come out while making the roll. Take small portions from the prepared mixture and shape them into a roll or cylinder.

Prepare bread like this
Cut the edges of the bread with a knife and separate them. Lightly flatten one bread slice with a rolling pin. Now lightly wet it in water for just a second and immediately press it between the palm to remove excess water. Applying too much water can cause the bread to break, so do this step carefully.

Prepare crispy rolls like this
Place the prepared potato filling in the middle of the bread and close it well by folding the bread from all sides. Seal the roll by pressing lightly with your hands, so that the filling does not come out while frying. Prepare all the rolls in the same manner.

Now heat oil in the pan. The oil should be medium hot. Instead of putting too many rolls at once, put only 2-3 rolls. Fry them repeatedly until they become golden and crisp. Take out the prepared roll on tissue paper to remove excess oil.

Follow these tips to enhance taste

Adding a little lemon juice or dry mango powder to the potato filling gives a slight sourness to it and makes it taste even better. If you want a more crispy roll, instead of soaking the bread in water, you can soften the bread by slightly wetting your palm. Due to this, the bread will not absorb much water and the outer part of the roll will become crisp.

Serve hot potato bread rolls with green chutney, tomato sauce or sweet tamarind chutney. It can be made less spicy for children and a little spicy for adults.
