Material
- Dark or milk chocolate compound – 2 cups
- Condensed milk – 1/2 cup
- Coconut flakes – 1 cup
- Chopped nuts (cashew nuts, almonds, pistachios) – 3 to 4 tablespoons
- Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
- Ghee – 1 tsp
method of making
step 1: First of all, heat a non-stick pan on low flame. Add coconut shavings to it and fry it lightly for one to two minutes so that its moisture gets released. Keep in mind that the color of the coconut should not be brown. After roasting, take it out in a bowl.
Step 2: Use the ‘double boiler’ method to melt the chocolate. Boil water in a vessel and place a glass or steel bowl containing chopped chocolate over it. Let the chocolate melt slowly. If you want, you can also melt it by placing it in the microwave for 30-30 seconds.
Step 3: When the chocolate completely melts and becomes smooth, keep the flame low and add condensed milk into it. Mix it well and then turn off the gas.
Step 4: Now add roasted coconut flakes, finely chopped dry fruits and cardamom powder to this melted chocolate mixture. Mix everything well with the help of a spatula, until it becomes thick like a dough. Leave it to cool slightly so that you can easily touch it with your hands.
Step 5: Take the mold for making modak and apply a little ghee on its inner side. With this the modaks will not stick to the mold and their shape will be perfect and shiny.
Step 6: Now take a small portion of the prepared chocolate dough and fill it inside the closed mold by pressing it well with your fingers from the bottom. After pressing the mixture tightly, open the mold slowly and take out the modak in a plate.
