When Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed a mirror to Pakistan in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, he told the world the importance of civilization and culture. Mentioned India's commitment to vision, initiative and lively dialogue on the global platform. Prime Minister Modi expressed his ideas for global growth and progress among the world's 10 top leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The Prime Minister stressed the strong tradition of dialogue and cooperation. Talked about setting targets for the last 25 years and the coming 25 years. He said, “Over the past twenty-five years, the SCO has developed a strong tradition of dialogue and cooperation across the vast territory of Eurasia.

Together we have made a valuable contribution to the well-being of our people as well as to the development of humanity. In these twenty-five years we have built a strong foundation of cooperation. Now our aim over the coming twenty-five years should be to translate this cooperation into visible results.”

It is also very important for PM Modi to explain the real purpose and meaning of SCO. He said, “In the last meeting, I had mentioned three main pillars of India's vision towards SCO: S means Security, C means Connectivity and O means Opportunity. Now is the time to take these three pillars beyond vision to concrete outcomes and the first requirement for this is peace and security.”

What PM Modi said in the presence of Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif indicates India's clear thinking. PM Modi expressed the need for united action against terrorism. He said that mere action and counter-action against terrorists will not suffice, but the entire system of terrorism will have to be destroyed.

Said that it is necessary to end terrorism funding, recruitment of terrorists, radicalization and safe havens. All countries should speak in one voice on this issue and there should be no room for double standards.

PM Modi considered drug trafficking as a serious issue. He said that drug trafficking is not just a crime but a serious threat to the young generation and regional security. Referring to the efforts being made by SCO, he said that the centers being established under SCO to deal with challenges like security threats, organized crime, information security and narcotics are a positive step.

The Prime Minister described 'dialogue' and 'diplomacy' as important for peace on the global platform. He said that the crisis in West Asia has shown that the conflict of any one region is not limited to that. It impacts the energy security, maritime trade and supply chains of the entire world.

The countries of the Global South bear the brunt of this the most, hence India's call has been that resolution of all tensions and wars is possible only through dialogue and diplomacy, not on the battlefield.

While talking about shared development, PM Modi stressed on sovereignty and territorial integrity. Speaking to the global forum, the PM said India supports all efforts that connect markets, facilitate trade, and open new avenues of development. But in these efforts, it is also extremely important to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries. This is also the basic spirit of the SCO Charter.

The Indian Prime Minister also mentioned the biggest 'capital' of SCO. He said that it is important that the benefits of SCO cooperation reach our people directly. Our greatest asset is the mutual relations between our people. For India, SCO is a confluence of great civilizations, cultures and ideas. People-to-people connect should be at the core of our cooperation in the next twenty-five years of the SCO.

Advocated opening doors of new opportunities for the youth. According to PM Modi, the real measure of success should be the opportunities our efforts provide to the youth, the new markets that open up for our entrepreneurs, the benefits of technology to our farmers, and the improved lives of our citizens.

From the global forum, PM Modi stressed on making cooperation not 'government driven' but 'people driven'. Praising the emphasis on youth engagement in SCO under Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship, the PM said that India has taken initiatives like Start-up Forum, Young Authors Conclave and Young Scientists Forum in SCO.

Referring to the proposal of the SCO Civilization Dialogue Forum held in India last year, the PM said that he is happy that its first session will be held in India this year. According to the PM, with the active participation of the member countries, this forum will become a powerful platform for lively dialogue in the SCO.
