Swine Flu Test: For a long time, the district administration and health department were continuously receiving complaints that many private testing centers and hospitals are financially exploiting the patients in the name of swine flu testing. Private labs were charging patients Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 for swine flu test. Due to fear of disease and emergency situation, the patients and their families were also forced to pay this huge amount.

To completely stop this arbitrariness, the Lucknow administration has imposed a capping of Rs 3,000. The most reassuring thing is that this fixed limit of Rs 3,000 covers the entire expense from taking the patient's sample to giving his final test report. That means lab operators cannot add even a single rupee separately in the name of sample collection or any other process.

Complain to CMO office if you ask for more money:

The Health Department has cautioned the general public not to pay even a single rupee more than Rs 3,000 for getting the test done in a private lab. Also, after payment, take a confirmed bill for testing. If any private lab or hospital asks for more money than the prescribed limit, the patient or their family can lodge their complaint directly with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office without any hesitation. The Health Department has clearly warned that strict legal action will be taken against the centers violating the rules and if found guilty, the license of the concerned lab will also be cancelled.

Major symptoms of swine flu:

The risk of swine flu increases with change in weather. The Health Department has advised people to be alert and has shared information about its main symptoms:

• High fever and persistent cough, sore throat, pain and severe headache.
• Difficulty in breathing and feeling of extreme fatigue or weakness in the body.

According to health experts, if these symptoms appear in a person, they should immediately consult a doctor and get tested without any delay so that the right treatment can be started on time.
