According to experts, some nutritional and biological properties are definitely found in both lemon and honey, but it is not right to consider their mixture as a drink that directly melts body fat. Till now there is no strong scientific evidence to prove that lemon and honey water directly burns the fat stored in the body. The process of weight loss depends on many things and physical activity and lifestyle along with eating habits throughout the day play an important role in it.
One advantage of lemon water can definitely be that it has very low calories. If a person drinks plain lemon water instead of sweet drinks or high calorie drinks, his total calorie consumption can reduce. Drinking enough water is also important for the normal functioning of the body. Drinking water keeps the body hydrated and some people may feel full if they drink water before meals. This can help in avoiding overeating.
However, adding excessive amount of honey to lemon water in the name of weight loss can have the opposite effect. Honey is definitely natural but it contains calories and sugar. Therefore, if a person adds more honey to his drink every day, his total calorie consumption may increase. In such a situation, weight loss efforts may be affected. If someone likes lemon water then it can be taken without honey or with very little amount of honey.
For actual weight loss, it is more important to focus on your diet throughout the day rather than relying on one drink. It is important to maintain a balance of nutrients in food and consume calories as per need. Along with this, regular walking, running, yoga or other physical activities also help in controlling weight. Getting enough sleep and controlling stress are also part of the process of maintaining a healthy weight.
So instead of considering honey-lemon water as a miraculous fat burning drink, it is better to look at it as a low-calorie drink. It would not be right to expect rapid reduction in belly fat just by drinking it. A sustainable way to lose weight is a balanced diet, regular activity, adequate water, good sleep and long-term healthy habits.
