Punjab Police conducted 567 raids across the state on Wednesday as the 'Gangstran Te Vaar' campaign entered its 225th day, targeting identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters.
The statewide campaign, aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state, was launched by Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from all districts have been conducting special operations in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
On the 225th day of the campaign, police arrested 185 individuals and recovered one weapon from their possession, taking the total number of arrests under the drive to 67,390.
Besides arrests, preventive action was taken against 236 persons, while one Proclaimed Offender (PO) was also arrested during the operation.
Punjab Police urged people to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. The information can be reported anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign, 'Yudh Nashian Virudh', which entered its 550th day. Police arrested 108 drug smugglers on Wednesday and recovered 756 grams of heroin, 331 intoxicant pills and Rs 3,540 in drug money from their possession.
With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 76,909 in 550 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also convinced 15 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Wednesday.
