Digital Desk, Bengaluru. South Zone defeated North Zone by 7 wickets in the second semi-final of Duleep Trophy. The team will now face East Zone in the final match. The title match will be played on 6 September at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Vaibhav Suryavanshi is in the East Zone team.

Talking about the match, South Zone had a target of 181 runs in the second innings, which the team achieved by losing 3 wickets. Tilak Verma, who scored a brilliant century in the first innings, also played an unbeaten inning of 51 runs in the second innings. For this explosive performance he was chosen Player of the Match.

MD Nidheesh took 5 wickets

North Zone started the fourth day of the match with a score of 256 runs for 7 wickets. Anshul Kamboj and Nishant Sindhu took the innings forward, but could not stand in front of the brilliant bowling of South Zone MD Nidheesh. Nidhish dismissed Kamboj, Brar and Arshdeep Singh and reduced North Zone’s innings to 297 runs.

Great chase of South Zone

Chasing the target of 181 runs, South Zone’s opening pair Ricky Bhui and Narayan Jagadishan gave a great start. There was a partnership of 64 runs between the two. Bhui played an inning of 42 runs and Jagadishan played an inning of 43 runs. After this, Tilak Verma played an unbeaten inning of 51 runs and R Smaran played an unbeaten inning of 32 runs. A partnership of 80 runs between the two led the team to victory.
