Brishti Mukherjee, niece of former Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, committed suicide in Kusumba village of Birbhum on Tuesday. Brishti was Mamata's cousin and daughter of Trinamool leader Nihar Mukherjee. Police have prima facie considered the case as suicide. The police have sent the body for post-mortem.

According to the information, Mukherjee was found hanging in her house. According to the news agency, a senior police officer said that Brishti is 28 years old. His body was recovered from the room on the second floor of the house in Kusumba village of Rampurhat area. Police further said that investigation is going on. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Investigation is going on. The real cause of death will be known only after post-mortem and inquiry.
