In the affidavit, Yasin Malik has appealed to his wife Mushal to move forward in her life and make a fresh start. He wrote that he did not want Mushal to spend the rest of her life burdened by the current situation or as a widow. Instead he wants to start a new chapter of life with dignity and hope.

‘Decision to release from the bond of marriage’

Yasin Malik has addressed his wife in the affidavit and said that Mushal’s age is about 20 years younger. He appealed to Mushal to take courage and start a new life with honor and hope.

According to Yasin, he has decided to free Mushal from the bonds of nikah before hanging. In the affidavit, he also compared himself to Nelson Mandela.

Why is Yasin Malik locked up in Tihar?

Yasin Malik is currently serving a life sentence in Delhi-based Tihar Jail in a terror funding case. Old cases including the killing of Kashmiri Pandit nurse Sarla Bhatt in 1990 and the killing of Indian Air Force personnel are also linked against him.

Legal proceedings are still going on in some of the cases against Yasin. A hearing is also to be held in the Delhi High Court regarding the demand for death penalty for him.

Sarla Bhatt denied the charges in the murder case

In an affidavit, Yasin Malik has denied any role in the 1990 Sarala Bhatt abduction and murder case. He has claimed that he has been falsely implicated by terming the case as a conspiracy.

Yasin says that he had no role in the abduction and murder of Sarla Bhatt. He has also said that not being part of the trial proceedings does not mean that he has accepted his guilt.

A message for mother and daughter too

Yasin Malik also mentioned his mother and 13-year-old daughter Razia Sultana in his affidavit. Addressing the family, he has expressed his thoughts and feelings.

In 2005, there was a meeting with Mushal in Pakistan

Yasin Malik and Mushal Hussain Malik first met in 2005 in Pakistan. Yasin went to Pakistan to seek support on the Kashmir issue. In an event held in Islamabad, he presented the Shayari of Faiz Ahmad Faiz.

Mushal was present in the event with her mother. Impressed by Yasin’s talk, she went to him and praised his speech. After that, visits between the two increased.

Later, talks between the two families progressed and Yasin Malik and Mushal got married in 2009. There is an age gap of around 20 years between the two.
