KNews Desk: India has expressed strong objection to the alleged demolition of a 100-year-old Hindu temple in Siraj village of Narowal district of Pakistan. The Ministry of External Affairs has condemned this action, calling it 'condemnable vandalism' against the place of worship of the minority community. India has demanded the Pakistan government to conduct an immediate and transparent investigation into the matter and ensure action against those responsible.

Responding to media queries, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India has taken seriously the reports of destruction of the historic Hindu temple in Siraj village. He said that such vandalism against a nearly century-old minority place of worship is extremely worrying.

Question on failure in temple security

Randhir Jaiswal also raised questions on the role of Pakistani officials regarding the security of the temple. He said the alleged apathy of the authorities and failure to protect the temple is a matter of grave concern.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that such incidents point to the continuing insecurity of minority communities in Pakistan. Besides, he also raised serious questions regarding religious freedom and security of places of worship.

India clarified that the security of religious places of minorities in Pakistan is the responsibility of the government there. It is the responsibility of Pakistani authorities to protect such sites from damage and protect the rights of minority communities.
