Despite Robin Meissner handing the home side a dream opening with a stunning goal, Bayern’s superior quality and experience eventually told. Strikes from Harry Kane and Tom Bischof turned the contest around before second-half goals from Michael Olise and Kane’s penalty sealed a 4-1 win for Vincent Kompany’s side.

Osnabrück made the ideal start, catching the cup holders cold after only five minutes. Bayern failed to deal with a long ball, which eventually dropped for Meissner. The forward controlled it before firing a spectacular long-range volley beyond the helpless Jonas Urbig to put the hosts 1-0 ahead.

That advantage lasted only 13 minutes before Bayern responded. Robin Fabinski’s attempted clearance looped upward instead of away and dropped straight to Kane, who kept his composure and finished from inside the box to restore parity. The goal also extended Kane’s remarkable streak to seven successive DFB-Pokal appearances with a goal.

Six minutes later, Bayern had completed the turnaround. Olise threaded a pass through to Luis Diaz, whose effort was saved by Jonas Krumrey. However, the rebound fell kindly for Bischof, who made no mistake from close range, sliding the ball into the far corner to hand Bayern their first lead of the night.

Bayern continued to dictate the game and nearly increased their advantage deep into first-half stoppage time when Olise found room on the edge of the area. His curling effort appeared to be heading for the corner, but Krumrey produced an excellent save to keep Osnabrück within one goal at the interval.

The second half offered less in terms of quality and clear openings, although Bayern remained comfortably in control and gave Osnabrück little encouragement of a comeback. The hosts did not manage another shot on target after the break, with their final effort on target having come in the 21st minute.

Bayern finally added the goal that removed any remaining doubt in the 73rd minute, with Olise getting on the scoresheet. The visitors won the ball high up the pitch through substitute Lennart Karl, who then played in the Frenchman inside the area. Olise skipped beyond a challenge from Fabinski before calmly finishing past Krumrey to make it 3-1.

Kompany’s men added further polish to the scoreline four minutes from time when Aleksandar Pavlovic was brought down by Jannik Muller inside the area, leading to a penalty. Kane stepped up and sent Krumrey the wrong way to make it 4-1.

The holders safely negotiated the remaining minutes, including added time, with little trouble to complete a comfortable victory and book their place in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.
