SSC JE Vacancy 2026: There is big news for candidates preparing for government jobs. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued a recruitment notification for a total of 1,748 Junior Engineer (JE) vacancies. The registration process has commenced alongside the release of the notification. The last date to submit the application form is September 22, 2026. Through this recruitment process, candidates from Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering streams will be selected for positions in key departments of the Central Government.

**Who can apply?**
**Educational Qualification:** Candidates must possess a B.E. or B.degree, or a three-year engineering diploma, in the relevant discipline (Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical) from a recognized university or institute.
**Age Limit:** The minimum age is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is set between 30 and 32 years, depending on the specific department. In accordance with government regulations, candidates belonging to reserved categories—such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD)—will be granted special relaxation in the maximum age limit as per the rules.
Candidates are advised to thoroughly read and understand the eligibility criteria specified in the official notification before applying.
How will the selection take place?
Candidates will be selected based on their performance in Paper-1 and Paper-2. Candidates who qualify in Paper-1 will proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process (Paper-2).
What is the negative marking scheme?
The SSC JE examination comprises Paper-1 and Paper-2. Both will be conducted as computer-based tests. For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted in Paper-1, and 1 mark will be deducted in Paper-2.
What will be asked in Paper-1?
Paper-1 will consist of three sections:
General Intelligence and Reasoning – 50 questions, 50 marks
General Awareness – 50 questions, 50 marks
General Engineering – 100 questions, 100 marks
The total duration for Paper-1 will be two hours.
What will Paper-2 entail?
Paper-2 will consist of 100 questions related to the specific technical subject. This paper will carry a total of 300 marks, and the allotted time will be two hours.
What is the salary?
Selected candidates will be appointed to a Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted) post. This post falls under Pay Level-6. As per the prescribed rules, selected candidates will receive a salary ranging from ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400.
What is the application fee?
The standard application fee for this recruitment is ₹100. Women, SC, ST, PwD, and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempt from the fee.
A fee is also applicable for making corrections to the application. The fee is set at ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second correction.
