Karachi Fake Pregnancy Case: Imagine, a family has been waiting for the birth of a little guest (child) for 9 months. After the completion of the time, she reached the hospital for delivery and during the operation it was found out that there was no child in the womb. Then what will happen to that family? The doctors standing in the operation theater will be shocked. This is not the story of any film, but a similar case has come to light from Pakistan. Here a woman had reached the hospital for delivery after 38 weeks of pregnancy. After necessary tests, the team of doctors had decided to perform a C-section. After this operation, the doctors found that there was no child in the womb.

According to BBC report, this case which came to light from Karachi, Pakistan is as shocking as it is, it also raises serious questions on the medical procedure. The family had an ultrasound report showing 38 weeks of pregnancy, but during the C-section, the fetus was not found in the womb. After this, there was a huge uproar in the hospital and the family even accused the child of going missing. As the investigation progressed, a different story emerged before the police.

Woman arrived with report of 38 weeks pregnancy

The matter pertains to Hamdard Hospital located in Nazimabad, Karachi. According to the report, the woman had reached the hospital for delivery on August 27. The family claimed that the pregnancy was about nine months old. In the ultrasound report with her, pregnancy of 38 weeks was recorded.

According to the hospital administration, the duty doctor conducted the medical examination of the woman and conducted necessary tests. Cardiotocography (CTG) was also included in these. After this the decision was taken to do C-section. But after the operation started, the medical team faced a situation which no one had imagined – the child was not present in the woman's womb.

The family accused the child of disappearing

When the family came to know about this after the operation, an uproar started in the hospital. The family was not ready to accept the fact that there was no child in the womb. He accused the hospital of making the child disappear and lodged a complaint with the police. When the investigation into the case began, the police took the woman's medical records, hospital documents and various investigation reports into their possession. The woman was also medically examined in a government hospital. According to the police, the pregnancy there was also not confirmed.

After this he was sent to Aga Khan Hospital for re-examination of the report and evidence. Police claim that, as the investigation progressed, the woman admitted that she was not actually pregnant and had told the family about her pregnancy.

Family pressure became the reason for the child?

According to the police, the woman had been married for about three years and there was pressure in the family regarding the child. The woman reportedly said that she had become pregnant due to this social and family pressure. She hoped that later on she would actually become pregnant, but that did not happen.

According to the police, when the time of delivery approached, the woman also informed the hospital about her pregnancy. The hospital says that later the woman also presented an ultrasound report from another hospital, which was allegedly found to be fake.

Serious questions were raised on the hospital also

In this entire matter, questions are being raised not only on the woman's claim but also on the hospital's procedure. According to experts, any decision before C-section should not be taken on the basis of any old report alone. Doctors usually take decisions based on medical history, physical examination, condition of the fetus and other tests including ultrasound as needed.

Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Samia also raised the question that if wrong information was given about the woman's pregnancy, then why was this not revealed before the operation.

Responsibility will be decided after investigation

At present this matter is under investigation. The police have recorded the hospital records and statements of the employees and have said that the report of the entire matter will be sent to the Sindh Healthcare Commission.
