Chelsea supporters were left disappointed after transfer deadline day came to an end.

Lamine Camara’s proposed deadline-day switch to Stamford Bridge has fallen through.

In a dramatic final day of business for the Blues, Camara’s planned £47 million transfer collapsed even after an agreement had been put in writing and a deal sheet had been submitted to the Premier League.

It has since emerged that AS Monaco were prepared to sell one of their two key players in order to bring in funds. A move was being lined up for USA striker Folarin Balogun to join Everton. In a remarkable twist, that transfer broke down for the Toffees, which meant Monaco were unable to sell either of their star names.

Camara had already been given the go-ahead to undergo a medical and sign a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge. Former Premier League player Diomansy Kamara, who is now Lamine Camara’s agent, said: “A transfer should not be only about two clubs and numbers. Behind every contract, there is a man, a career, dreams and life choices.

“The player must be able to be heard and respected in the decisions that determine his future.”

With the transfer window now firmly closed, Chelsea cannot bring the deal for Lamine Camara back to life despite the late collapse of Folarin Balogun’s proposed move to Merseyside. The Blues will now have to wait until the January transfer window if they want to revive their interest in the midfielder.

On the subject of Merseyside, it has also been suggested that Liverpool have contacted Monaco to indicate their intention to sign the Senegal midfielder in 2027.

Chelsea fans’ frustration may be heightened further by the departure of their former World Cup-winning midfield leader Enzo Fernandez, who has joined Premier League rivals Manchester City for a joint British-record fee of £125m.

The hierarchy at Stamford Bridge could have stopped that transfer, but Xabi Alonso’s side are now left short of options in midfield, at least until the next transfer window opens.
