iPhone Handoff was glimpsed at WWDC 2026. Now it is being included in iOS 27. Users can get this feature with the new update. Through this, both iPhones can be linked to the same number. Users will be able to use any phone as per their need.

This is how iPhone Handoff will work

This feature can be started from the settings of the iPhone. For this you have to go to Settings > Cellular.

Here the user will be able to choose one of the two phones as primary. Another phone can be made a companion device.

After this the eSIM profile of the primary iPhone will remain intact. Companion eSIM will be made for other iPhones. With this, the same number will remain active on both the phones.

Location will also be updated automatically

This feature will not have only calling facility. Cellular plan and account settings will be controlled from the primary iPhone.

Location sharing will also work according to the active iPhone. That means the correct phone location will be visible in Find My.

Support of telecom companies is necessary

Support of telecom companies will be necessary for iPhone Handoff. The names of T-Mobile and Deutsche Telekom have appeared in initial reports.

Apple may soon provide information about supported countries and operators. The public update of iOS 27 is expected to be released in September.
