Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is identified not only by the name of the Pink City but also by the grand forts and palaces present here. These historical heritages include Amer Fort, which is famous all over the world due to its magnificent architecture, royal splendor and historical importance. This fort is situated on the Aravalli hills, about 11 kilometers from Jaipur.
History of Amer Fort
Amer Fort was built in the 16th century by Raja Mansingh I, one of the Kachwaha Rajput rulers of Amer. Later, other rulers including Raja Jai Singh I made many changes and expansions in it.
Amer remained the capital of the Kachwaha dynasty for many years. Later when Jaipur city was established, the capital was shifted from Amer to Jaipur.
