Maximising value offered, Tata Motors has launched Series X variants of the petroil/ diesel powered Curvv. Prices start at Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Six broad trims are available: SmartX, Pure X, Pure X+, Creative X+, Accomplished X, and Accomplished X+. The Series X retains the basic design and character of the internal combustion engine-powered Curvv but adds more features to the cabin.

In simple terms, the Series X is a step-up from the regular Curvv. It offers a more premium cabin experience and more features at relatively affordable price points. The range-topping Accomplished X+ variant comes with a more pleasant, lighter interior theme, more premium materials and leatherette, re-designed front seats for better room at the rear (front seat-backs are now 10mm slimmer, the rear seats have been moved 20mm rearward and sit 10mm lower than before), and more features for the price points. Tata Motors has had a strong focus on delivering value with the Series X.

Let’s talk about the entry-level Pure X variant first. It retains the Curvv’s familiar coupe-like design. Elements like the flush-type door handles, shark-fin antenna, all-LED lighting, and rear spoiler have been kept safe. It rides on 17-inch Hyperstyle wheels.

The interior feels premium. It gets a four-spoke illuminated steering wheel, 10.25-inch infotainment system by Harman, 4+2 speaker audio system, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, cruise control, HD rear view camera (reverse camera) with rear parking sensors, smart key with push-button start, WiFi connectivity and GPS support, front and rear USB charging, tyre pressure monitoring system, multiple drive modes (Eco, City, Sport) and more.

The safety suite is quite solid as well. It has six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold control, ABS, EBD, and 3-point seatbelts for all occupants.

Now, let’s look at the range-topping Accomplished X+ variant. It runs on 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Inside, this variant has features like seats with passive ventilation, Benecke-Kaliko Oyster white upholstery, ventilated front seats, air purifier and AQI display, 6-way powered driver seat, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, 360-degree 3D surround view, level 2 ADAS, and more.

The Pure+ and Creative+ variants of Series X pack the maximum value and are likely to be the most picked once the actual sales commence.

The Smart X variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 9.99 lakh. This is the absolute entry point into the Series X lineup. The Curvv Series X competes with compact (mid-size) SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Nissan Tekton, Renault Duster, and Maruti Grand Vitara. An ex-showroom entry price of 9.99 lakh rupees makes so much sense in this context.

The Pure X and Pure X+ variants cost Rs 10.99 and Rs 11.79 lakh, respectively. Dark editions based on the latter would cost Rs 20,000 extra. The Creative X+ variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 12.91 lakh. This is the first variant to offer panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera with blind spot monitor, and 18-inch wheels, The top-of-the-line Accomplished X+ costs Rs 18.49 lakh. In short, the base price has remained unchanged while the top-end is now significantly more affordable.

The internal combustion version of the Curvv continues to be offered with three engine options- 1.2L turbocharged petrol, 1.2L direct injection turbocharged petrol (TGDi), and a 1.5L diesel. The transmission options include 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT.

The 1.2L turbo petrol makes 118bhp and 170Nm, whereas the TGDI version generates 123 bhp and 225Nm. The diesel engine has an output of 115bhp and 260Nm. The diesel engine remains the most appreciated of the three due to its strong torque and frugal nature.
