Monsoon rains continue and meanwhile the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rains and strong winds in many states for August 4, 2026.

Weather Alert: Monsoon remains active in many parts of the country. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain, thunder and strong winds in 25 states and union territories of the country for 4 September 2026. According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed in some areas can reach up to 70 kilometers per hour.

There is a possibility of heavy rain in many areas from Delhi-NCR to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. At the same time, heavy rains and thunderstorms can also be seen in the northeastern states.

Bay of Bengal weather system active

One of the main reasons for this change in weather is the weather system formed in the Bay of Bengal. Due to its effect, monsoon activities are likely to intensify in Eastern India and the Ganga plains. Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh are likely to become major centers of heavy rain. Its impact may also reach eastern Madhya Pradesh and eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The risk of waterlogging and local flooding may increase in areas with persistent heavy rainfall. Apart from this, there is a possibility of impact on road and rail traffic, mining activities and industrial work.

In which states there is alert of rain and storm?

According to IMD, the weather may remain bad in many areas including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gujarat, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram, West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. There is a possibility of strong winds of 30 to 70 kilometers per hour with heavy rain at some places. Rain in hilly areas can cause landslides and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

How will the weather be in Delhi on 4th September?

There is a possibility of heavy rain and strong winds along with thunderstorms in the capital Delhi on September 4. During this period the wind speed can be around 15 to 20 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 31 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 26 degrees Celsius. In case of continuous rain, traffic may be affected due to waterlogging in low-lying areas and roads.

Heavy rain in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar also

There has been a warning of rain along with thunderstorm in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. There is a possibility of bad weather in many areas including Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Agra, Aligarh, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur and Deoria. In some areas, winds can reach 30 to 65 kilometers per hour.

In Bihar, there is a warning of heavy rain in many districts including West and East Champaran, Patna, Gaya, Bhojpur, Gopalganj, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Purnia, Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar and Bhagalpur. The wind speed here can be around 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.

Keep an eye on Central India and hilly states also

Heavy rain with thunder and lightning is expected in many districts of Madhya Pradesh. The maximum temperature in Bhopal can be around 24 degrees and minimum 23 degrees Celsius. The weather may also remain challenging in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. There is a possibility of heavy rain in areas like Chamoli, Bageshwar, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Pauri and Tehri of Uttarakhand. There is also a rain alert in Kullu, Kangra, Mandi, Chamba, Solan and other areas of Himachal Pradesh.

There is a possibility of rain and strong winds in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir including Jammu, Anantnag, Poonch, Baramulla, Reasi, Udhampur, Ramban and Rajouri. The temperature in Srinagar can range between 17 to 27 degrees Celsius. There is an alert of rain and storm in many areas of Punjab including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Pathankot and Kapurthala.
