A statement from the temple administration said that gold and diamond ornaments are also stored in the temple’s “gem treasury.
According to a statement issued by the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), fixed deposits under the three schemes totaled ₹1,811.10 crore as on August 31. Of this, ₹1,311.10 crore is deposited in various government banks, while the remaining ₹500 crore is an endowment fund provided by the Odisha government and kept in the temple’s profit and loss account.
As of August 31, Mandir had Rs 100.71 crore in various savings accounts, current accounts and flexi accounts (accounts with a mix of savings and fixed deposits), taking its total bank deposits to around Rs 1911.80 crore. The temple administration said its income mainly comes from donations from devotees, earnings from temple mines, interest on fixed deposits, purchase and sale of land and government grants.
