On this special occasion, many types of dishes are offered to Kanha, in which Panchamrit and Panjiri have special significance.

According to religious beliefs, Lord Krishna loves milk, curd and butter. On Janmashtami, God is anointed with Panchamrit and food is also offered. Mainly curd, milk, honey, Ganga water and ghee are used to make Panchamrit.

Easy method of making Panchamrit

First of all, beat fresh and non-sour curd well. If you want to make Panchamrit a little thinner, you can add water to it as per requirement. After this, slowly add milk, honey, ghee and Ganga water in it.

Enhance taste with dry fruits and sweetness

To enhance the taste of Panchamrit, finely chopped dry fruits are added to it. Chironji and roasted makhana further enhance the taste of Panchamrit. Powdered sugar or sugar can also be added as per taste.

Fragrance will come from basil and cardamom

There is also a tradition of adding basil leaves in Panchamrit. Apart from this, adding half teaspoon cardamom powder improves its aroma and taste. After offering it, it is accepted as Prasad.

Can also be consumed with banana and panjiri

Many people also add chopped ripe bananas to Panchamrit. It can be consumed directly as Prasad or mixed with Panjiri. Panchamrit and Panjiri are considered to have a special place in the offerings to Lord Krishna on Janmashtami.
