Rohit Sharma has been an important part of the Indian team’s plans in ODI cricket for a long time. However, keeping in mind the 2027 ODI World Cup, questions are being raised on his future amid discussions about changes in the team and preparation of new players. The biggest question is whether Rohit will be able to make a place in the Indian team for the ODI series against West Indies?

When BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia was asked on this issue, he gave a positive answer about Rohit. Saikia said- No problem is expected in Japan, Rohit is playing brilliantly. It is clear from his statement that at present no negative indication has been given by the board regarding Rohit’s form.

Saikia also mentioned Rohit’s recent performance. He said- Rohit Sharma had scored a century in the last match he played. What else do you need? I will not fuel rumours. This statement of the BCCI Secretary has come at a time when there is continuous speculation about Rohit being dropped from the West Indies series.

Actually, considering Rohit’s age and the preparation for the 2027 ODI World Cup, the selectors have many big decisions regarding the future of the team. Amidst efforts to give more opportunities to young players in the Indian team, it is natural for there to be discussion about the role of an experienced player like Rohit.

However, Saikia’s statement definitely indicates that BCCI is happy with Rohit’s current form. Especially by citing the century scored in the last match, he made it clear that the performance of the experienced batsman cannot be ignored.

Now all eyes are on the Indian ODI team to be announced for the West Indies series. Whether Rohit Sharma gets a place in the team or not, this announcement can clear the picture of his ODI future to a great extent. At present no official decision has come from the board.
