India’s Foreign Minister S. in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv. Jaishankar and President Volodymyr Zelensky met. There was discussion between the two leaders on ways to end the Russia-Ukraine war and strengthening India-Ukraine relations. But during this meeting itself, the news of drone attack by Russia made the atmosphere more serious.
Zelensky claimed that when Jaishankar and the Indian delegation were present in Kiev, Russia fired jet-powered ‘Shahed’ drones. He told that Ukrainian army shot down most of the drones, hence the Indian team remained safe. Zelensky also said that Iran had helped in making these drones and the major powers of the world should now take a clear stand to end the war.
What issues were discussed between Jaishankar and Zelensky?
S. Jaishankar met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev on Thursday. During this, both the leaders discussed ways to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Besides, discussions were also held on further strengthening the relations between India and Ukraine and increasing cooperation between the two countries. Zelensky described this meeting with Jaishankar as important. He said that India is continuously talking about ending war and peace. The Ukrainian President praised India’s stance and expressed gratitude to India for its efforts to end the war.
What did Russia do during Jaishankar’s stay in Kyiv?
Zelensky claimed that when S. Jaishankar and the Indian delegation were present in Kiev when Russia attacked with ‘Shahed’ drone. According to him, these drones run on jet engines and Iran has also helped in preparing them. The President of Ukraine said that his army shot down most of the drones in the air. For this reason the Indian delegation remained safe. Zelensky said that Ukrainian fighter planes played an important role in stopping these drones.
Claim of drone attack on Coca-Cola plant also
Zelensky said in his nightly video message that a Coca-Cola plant outside Kiev was also targeted by Russian drones. He called this attack a message from Russia to America. Zelensky said that Russia knows that this plant is connected to an American company. According to Reuters, 10 people were injured in the Russian attack on Kiev. After the attack, a fire broke out at one place and a tall building also suffered a lot of damage.
Zelensky appeals to the world for peace
Zelensky appealed to the major countries of the world to take concrete steps to end the Russia-Ukraine war. He said that now instead of taking the war forward, there should be such a peace which is strong and lasts for a long time.
