UPESSC has released the notification for the UP Special TET 2026. The online application process for the exam will commence on September 5, and candidates will be able to submit their forms until October 4.

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has issued the notification for the Special TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) 2026. The Commission has released this under Advertisement Number 03/2026. The online application process begins on September 5, and the deadline for form submission is October 4. This examination aims to determine eligibility for teaching positions at the primary and upper primary levels in government and government-aided schools across Uttar Pradesh.

UP Special TET 2026 Schedule

The online application process for UP Special TET 2026 starts on September 5, with the final date for submission set for October 4. Candidates must also pay the prescribed application fee during this period. According to the schedule released by the Commission, October 8 has been designated for making corrections to applications. The Special TET exam is scheduled for November 3, 2026, with admit cards expected to be released on November 1, 2026.

Mandatory OTR (One-Time Registration)

Candidates must complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) process before applying for the UP Special TET; the application process cannot be completed without it. Candidates who have already completed the OTR do not need to register again; they can proceed with the application using their existing login credentials. New candidates must complete the OTR first, after which they can fill out the Special TET 2026 application form using their login details.

What is the Application Fee?

The application fee varies based on the candidate’s category. Candidates belonging to the General, EWS, and OBC categories are required to pay ₹1,000, while SC/ST candidates must pay ₹500, and PwD candidates ₹300. The fee payment must be made online.

Eligibility for Paper 1 and Paper 2

Paper 1 of the UP Special TET is intended for teachers instructing classes 1 through 5. Candidates must possess a Senior Secondary qualification with at least 50% marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Alternatively, under NCTE norms, a Senior Secondary qualification with 45% marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education is also accepted. Candidates holding a B.Ed. qualification are also eligible for Paper 1. Paper 2 is for classes 6 through 8; candidates require a Graduation degree with at least 50% marks and a two-year diploma. Graduation with 50% marks combined with a B.Ed. is also valid. Additionally, candidates who have completed Senior Secondary education with at least 50% marks and hold a four-year B.El.Ed. degree may also apply.

What marks are required to pass?

The qualifying benchmark for General category candidates in the Special TET is set at 60%. Candidates from reserved categories are granted relaxation as per the rules. Since there is no negative marking in the exam, candidates will not lose marks for incorrect answers. In the UP Special TET 2026, 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) will be asked in each of the two papers.
