The resort island recorded a 52.43% year-on-year increase in Israeli visitors in July, a 1,204% surge from pre-Covid 2019 levels, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) Phuket office.
Despite the modest drop in visitor numbers, tourism revenue held up.
The island generated approximately 310,961 million baht (US$9.4 million) during the first seven months, down just 0.72% from the previous year, as a steady stream of high-spending tourists helped support revenue, The Tiger reported.
Hotel occupancy rate stood at 75.56%, down 1.74% year on year.

Russia remained Phuket’s largest source market for the January-July period, with 619,130 visitors.
China followed with 383,918 arrivals, India 354,066, Australia 149,542, and the United Kingdom 131,344.
The remaining top 10 markets were Germany with 106,902 visitors, France 103,752, Malaysia 87,854, Kazakhstan 81,673, and South Korea 79,960, according to the TAT.
As tourism continues to boom on the island, local authorities are considering expanding designated entertainment zones to accommodate growing visitor demand and bring more nightlife businesses into the legal system, Bangkok Post reported.
