Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday unveiled ‘RAKSHA’, a comprehensive framework outlining India’s vision and roadmap for defence diplomacy and international defence partnerships over the next decade.
The document was released in New Delhi and sets out an actionable framework aimed at strengthening India’s engagement with partner countries in defence and security.
RAKSHA focuses on strategic partnerships, military cooperation, capacity building, indigenous defence manufacturing, defence exports and maritime security.
The framework seeks to strengthen India’s role as a contributor to regional and global peace and stability while expanding cooperation with friendly countries in areas including joint exercises, training, technology and defence-industrial partnerships.
The document also places emphasis on promoting India’s domestic defence manufacturing capabilities and expanding opportunities for defence exports.
The government sees defence diplomacy as an important pillar of India’s foreign policy, particularly at a time of changing global security dynamics and growing strategic competition.
The RAKSHA framework is expected to guide India’s defence engagement with international partners over the coming 10 years and strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual security interest.
