NTA Candidate Grievance Advisory Guide: If you have recently taken a competitive exam and emailed the NTA about an issue but haven't received a response, hold on. The problem might not lie with the NTA, but rather with how you sent the email. The National Testing Agency receives hundreds of thousands of complaints daily. However, many of these emails lack basic details such as the candidate's name, roll number, or application number.

It becomes nearly impossible for the NTA team to locate a specific candidate within a database of millions. To address this issue, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a ‘Candidate Advisory.’ The agency has appealed to all candidates via social media to follow a few simple guidelines when lodging a complaint. Doing so ensures that their issue reaches the correct department without hindrance and can be resolved promptly.

How to lodge a complaint with the NTA?
The National Testing Agency’s social media team is highly active. The NTA frequently shares important updates on X (formerly Twitter). Here is the correct procedure for lodging a complaint with the NTA:

1. Always use your registered email ID

The email ID you used while filling out the application form serves as your identity. Students often send emails to the NTA using an email address belonging to a friend or a cyber café operator. When this happens, the agency's system cannot trace your profile. However, when you send an email from your ‘registered email ID,’ the system instantly verifies your account, allowing the process to move forward.

2. Do not forget to include the ‘Application Number’ in the subject line

The email subject line acts as the gateway to your message. If you simply write "Help Me" or "Problem," your request will get lost among hundreds of thousands of other emails. The NTA has explicitly stated that you must include your Application Number in the subject line. Additionally, include the name of the exam (e.g., NEET UG, JEE Main, or CUET) in parentheses. This makes it easier for the helpdesk team to locate and open your file as soon as they view the email.

3. Be concise and attach supporting evidence
Instead of writing a long narrative in the email, clearly explain your issue in just 4–5 lines. If there is an error on your admit card, a fee deduction issue, or a server error, do not forget to attach a screenshot or the relevant document. Providing concrete evidence allows the technical team to quickly understand the problem and take immediate action.

4. Email the ‘Dedicated Helpdesk’ for the specific exam
The NTA conducts dozens of different exams across the country. There are separate helpdesks for NEET, JEE, and CUET. If you send a query regarding JEE to the NEET email address, your email may remain unattended. Therefore, always send your complaint to the specific support email ID listed on the official website or in the information bulletin for that particular exam.

NTA is committed to assisting everyone
The National Testing Agency states that it is committed to resolving every candidate's issue with complete fairness and seriousness. However, a little clarity from the candidates can expedite the entire process. Drafting your email while keeping the aforementioned points in mind will save you time and ensure a quick resolution to any exam-related issue.
