The company has fixed the starting ex-showroom price of this new car at ₹ 27.99 lakh, while to buy its top-end model, customers will have to spend up to ₹ 40.39 lakh. This new model of Kia will mainly attract those customers who are looking for premium cabin, advanced technology and powerful powertrain.

The company has introduced the new Kia Sorento in the Indian market in two main engine options – diesel and hybrid. As a diesel option, it has been given a 2.2-litre Smartstream D2.2 engine, which is equipped with 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). At the same time, for those who want eco-friendly driving and better mileage, a 1.6-litre Smartstream G1.6 T-GDI petrol-hybrid engine has been made available, which is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Talking about seating capacity, the company has launched this SUV in both 6-seater and 7-seater layouts. The 7-seater variants start with the base model HTE, which is very suitable for large families and everyday use. At the same time, the 6-seater version is available in HTK trim, in which premium captain seats are provided in the second row. This layout has been designed keeping in mind those people who want more comfort and exclusive feeling in their car journey.

If we understand the mathematics of prices, the 7-seater HTE variant of the diesel range is available for ₹ 27.99 lakh, while its 6-seater model (HTK) starts at ₹ 32.69 lakh. Prices are slightly higher when moving to hybrid powertrains; While the 7-seater hybrid HTE is priced at ₹29.49 lakh, the starting price of the 6-seater hybrid HTK has been set at ₹34.19 lakh.

The upper (higher) variants of the Kia Sorento feature All-Wheel Drive (AWD) for better grip and control on bad roads and difficult conditions. The AWD range in diesel starts from the HTX variant, which is priced at ₹37.49 lakh, and goes up to the HTX(A) Black Line variant, which is priced at ₹38.89 lakh. AWD options in the hybrid category start at ₹38.99 lakh for the 7-seater HTX and go up to the most expensive 6-seater HTX(A) Black Line AWD model, which is priced at ₹40.39 lakh.

There is a lot new to be seen in Sorento in terms of design and safety features. The variants with '(O)' in their name come with the convenience pack. The trims with '(A)' badging offer Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) protection. Apart from this, the company has also given 'Black Line' styling pack, which gives a different and sporty look to the vehicle.
