Delhi Police has taken action against Swatantra Bhardwaj, accused of attacking Nishu Azad's father Sanjay Kumar. On Friday, September 4, the police detained the accused from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. After this, the police took him to Chola police station in Bulandshahr, where he is being interrogated. Actually, Swatantra Bhardwaj had mentioned the attack on Sanjay Kumar in a podcast. The matter again came into limelight after its video went viral on social media. After the video surfaced, leaders of Cockroach Janata Party, Congress and Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) increased their activism demanding action in the matter.
Many leaders and workers including CJP's Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, Congress student wing's Vinod Jakhar, Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad reached Sansad Marg police station in Delhi demanding action in the matter. All the leaders demanded the police to take appropriate legal action against Swatantra Bhardwaj.
What was the decision taken in the talks with Delhi Police?
There was a conversation between the leaders and Delhi Police officials at Sansad Marg police station for about two hours. During the conversation, the police talked about adding relevant sections of the SC-ST Act in the case. At the same time, Sanjay Kumar will undergo medical examination again. On the basis of the medical report, a decision will be taken on adding the section of Attempt to Murder in the case.
Abhijeet Deepke gave statement
Amid police action in the case, CJP founder Abhijit Deepke said that Delhi Police has registered an FIR against Swatantra Bhardwaj and has assured to arrest him within 72 hours. He said that it took almost two months and one protest for the police to register an FIR in the case of alleged hate crime. Deepke raised questions on the functioning of the police department and demanded improvement in the system.
