Uttarakhand News: CM Dhami's Janmashtami gift, ₹147 crore sent to the accounts of 9.91 lakh pension beneficiaries

Dehradun. On the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave a big gift to lakhs of pension beneficiaries of the state. The Chief Minister on Friday paid the pension installment of August 2026 under various social security pension schemes of the Social Welfare Department through one-click from his camp office. During this period, a total pension amount of Rs 147 crore 5 lakh 51 thousand was sent to the accounts of 9 lakh 91 thousand 914 beneficiaries. Along with this, pensions of 5,605 new beneficiaries were also approved under various social security pension schemes in the month of August.

Weak and needy sections should get benefits of schemes on time

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that providing social security to the weak, needy and deprived sections of the society is the priority of the state government. The government's effort is to ensure that every eligible person gets the benefits of social security schemes in a simple, transparent and time bound manner. He instructed the officers that practical problems arising in the implementation of pension schemes should be resolved with sensitivity. Also stressed on making the pension system more beneficiary centric.

Account based payment for those who cannot get Aadhaar

CM Dhami directed the officials to identify those eligible beneficiaries who are not able to generate Aadhaar due to some reason. Arrangements for account based payment should be made for such beneficiaries, so that no eligible person is deprived of pension benefits due to Aadhaar problem. During the presentation, it was told that in the month of August, an amount of Rs 147 crore 5 lakh 51 thousand has been earmarked for a total of 9,91,914 beneficiaries of old age, widow, disabled, farmer, abandoned, maintenance grant, Tilu Rauteli and dwarf pension schemes.

More than Rs 140 crore state share, about Rs 7 crore central share

Of the total pension beneficiaries, 2 lakh 14 thousand 711 beneficiaries are covered under the National Social Assistance Program and 7 lakh 77 thousand 203 beneficiaries are covered at the state level. The pension payment for the month of August includes about Rs 140 crore 11 lakh state share and Rs 6 crore 94 lakh central share.

Pension of 5,605 new beneficiaries approved

A total of 5,605 new pensions were approved under various social security pension schemes in the month of August. These:

  • 3,945 beneficiaries of old age pension
  • 1,000 beneficiaries of widow pension
  • 416 beneficiaries of disabled pension
  • 106 beneficiaries of farmer pension
  • 23 beneficiaries of abandoned pension
  • There are 115 beneficiaries of maintenance grant.
National departmental summit will be held in Delhi in September

A presentation regarding upcoming programs was also given in the meeting. It was told that a two-day national departmental summit is proposed by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India on 18 and 19 September 2026 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi. In the conference, there will be dialogue between the Centre, States and Union Territories on key priorities to social justice and empowerment. On this occasion, Social Welfare Minister Khajan Das, Secretary Social Welfare Dr. Shridhar Babu Addanki, Additional Secretary Vikram Yadav, Joint Secretary Dhirendra Singh, Joint Director Geetaram Nautiyal, Assistant Director Hemlata Pandey and other officers were present.
