Delhi Police has achieved a major success in the case of alleged assault and violence against the father of student activist Nishu Azad during a major demonstration at Jantar Mantar in the capital Delhi. The main accused in this sensational case and social media influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj, who calls himself a Hindutva activist, has been taken into custody from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. During the protest organized by CJP, Sanjay Kumar, 38-year-old father of student activist Nishu Azad, was allegedly seriously assaulted with sticks and scuffles. The matter became more serious when a podcast to Swatantra Bhardwaj started going viral on social media. In this viral video clip, Bhardwaj was seen allegedly boasting that he had 'broken the skull' of Sanjay Kumar during the protest and despite carrying out such a major incident, he easily escaped the clutches of the law. After this arrogant and fearless statement came to light, huge anger spread from social media to political circles and the general public also started demanding strict action against the accused. Delhi Police's stand and questions raised on the medical report: On one hand, the victim's side and political organizations were demanding action against the accused for attempt to murder and under serious sections, while on the other hand, Delhi Police tried to clarify the situation by issuing a new statement in this matter. Police officials say that according to preliminary investigation and medical examination, 38-year-old Sanjay Kumar had suffered only minor injuries on his head during the clash. The police rejected all the claims that the victim had a serious skull fracture. Further, the police clarified that immediately after the incident, Swatantra Bhardwaj and another accused Suraj Kumar were detained from the spot, after interrogating them, notices were issued as per rules. Police also claim that the scientific and impartial investigation of the case is in the final stages and based on the evidence, a strong charge sheet will soon be filed in the court. Swatantra Bhardwaj's clarification and claim of self-defence Before coming into police custody and through various statements, accused Swatantra Bhardwaj has completely denied all the serious allegations leveled against him. While defending Bhardwaj, his close friends and supporters say that the podcast clip going viral on social media has been completely distorted and presented in the wrong context. He claims that the comments made in that podcast were merely political satire or in a joking tone. In his defense, Swatantra Bhardwaj claimed that he was suddenly surrounded by an angry mob of about 10 to 15 people at Jantar Mantar, due to which he felt in grave danger to his life. He said that whatever he did was only a reaction of self-defense to save his life and not a deliberate attack on anyone. Nishu Azad's case of serious allegations and rape threats.
