New Delhi. The Kolkata Fire Department has issued a notice to vacate the basement, sixth and seventh floors of the building located at 9 Camac Street, which houses the office of Trinamool Congress national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee. This notice has been issued due to shortcomings in fire safety arrangements. A team of police and fire department officials investigated the entire building and after that this notice was issued. According to officials, the fire safety certificate of the building expired on August 10 and has not been renewed yet.
According to media reports, earlier the fire department had issued a show cause notice to the owner of the building and sought a reply within 48 hours. Due to lack of response from there, a notice has been issued to vacate the two floors and basement of the building. According to the fire department, there is a lack of fire safety arrangements in the building and if for some reason a fire occurs, a major accident can occur.
While reacting in this matter, TMC MP Saugata Roy said that Abhishek is currently out of Kolkata. The government wants to close it, but what will happen by sealing the office? Trinamool will fight this with full force. When the right time comes, legal steps will be taken and we will tell the people what kind of excesses the government is committing. This has happened everywhere. Mamta Banerjee has said on her Facebook that about 4,000 offices of Trinamool Congress were closed in Bengal and the Camac Street office was one of the main offices among them. Our work will continue, our work will not stop because of the fire brigade or police.
