Women Health Tips: With increasing age the needs of the body also gradually change. This change can be even more important in the case of women, because periods, hormonal changes, pregnancy and busy everyday life can have an impact on nutrition. Some women around the age of 30 may face deficiency of some essential vitamins and minerals.

However, this does not mean that every woman should start taking supplements as soon as she turns 30. According to experts, the need for supplements depends on the person’s diet, test reports and health condition. Therefore, it is not right to take any supplement without need.

According to Dr. Ankur Gehlot, associated with the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department of CK Birla Hospital, Jaipur, nowadays nutritional deficiencies are being seen even among the youth. But supplements should not be used in place of a balanced diet.

1. Vitamin D: It is important to understand its deficiency in the body.

Vitamin D is often associated with bones, but its role in the body is much more than that. Vitamin D deficiency is quite common in India. Women who spend a lot of time indoors or in the office may be deficient in it due to not getting enough sunlight.

Going out for some time every day and getting some morning sunlight can be helpful. But if the level of Vitamin D in the body is low, the doctor may recommend supplements based on the test report. It is not considered right to take high doses on your own.

2. Vitamin B12: Vegetarian women should be cautious

Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient for the body. Women following a strictly vegetarian diet should especially pay attention to their B12 intake, as its natural sources include many animal-based foods.

If you are not getting enough B12 from food or testing reveals a deficiency, your doctor may recommend supplements as needed. Therefore, instead of starting B12 pills daily without any reason, it is better to understand your needs first.

3. Iron: May be important for women with excessive bleeding

Bleeding during periods can affect the iron requirement in women’s bodies. Women who have much more bleeding than normal during menstruation may be at increased risk of iron deficiency.

In such a situation, fatigue or weakness should not be ignored considering it as just normal weakness. If necessary, the doctor may recommend iron supplements after examination. But it is not necessary for every woman to take iron without testing.

4. Calcium: Is drinking only milk enough or not?

Calcium is important for bones and many essential body processes. If a woman is not getting enough calcium in her diet, then special attention may have to be paid to her nutritional needs.

For some women, calcium needs are met through food, while in some cases the doctor may recommend supplements. Therefore, instead of starting calcium tablets just on the basis of age, one should keep in mind one’s diet and health condition.

5. Folic Acid: Special importance for women planning pregnancy (Women Health Tips)

Folic acid is an important nutrient for women who are planning to become pregnant or who may become pregnant. Adequate folate early in pregnancy helps reduce the risk of certain birth defects involving the baby’s neural tube.
