Gorakhpur/Khajni :On the holy festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Khajni police station premises became drenched with devotion and reverence late Friday evening. Police station in-charge Jayant Singh started the Janmashtami celebrations by offering food to the destitute men and women of the old age home located in Unwal. In this initiative of the police, along with the religious event, a glimpse of social concern was also seen.

Khajni police station premises were decorated attractively on the occasion of Janmashtami. The complex decorated with colorful lights, flowers and decorative items remained the center of attraction for the devotees. As the evening approached, the hustle and bustle in the police station premises increased and the whole atmosphere became dark with the devotional songs. There was a lot of enthusiasm among the people regarding the tableau and worship of Lord Shri Krishna.

Apart from the police station staff, elite citizens of the area, village heads, social workers and media representatives participated in the ceremony in the presence of Area Officer Khajni Dipanshi Rathore. Everyone worshiped Lord Krishna and prayed for happiness, peace and prosperity in the area. Devotees kept waiting for the moment of appearance of Lord Shri Krishna.

On this occasion, police station in-charge Jayant Singh said that Shri Krishna Janmashtami is not only a religious festival but also an opportunity to give the message of humanity and service. It is a part of the social responsibility of the police to share the happiness of the festival with the destitute elderly by providing them food and offerings. The importance of the festival increases by sharing happiness with the needy people.

During the programme, an atmosphere of cordiality was seen between the policemen and the common people. The police station premises remained immersed in the colors of devotion till late night amidst prayers and religious programs. The people present appreciated the initiative of the police to include destitute elderly people in the joy of Janmashtami with respect.
