Vrindavan: Shri Krishna Janmashtami, the incarnation day of Lord Shri Krishna, was celebrated grandly at Chandrodaya Temple with spiritual enthusiasm, devotion and Vedic traditions. On the occasion of Janmashtami, the temple premises were decorated with colorful flowers and attractive electrical decorations. There was a lot of religious rituals, bhajan-kirtan and Harinam Sankirtan in the temple throughout the day.

Abhishek of Laddu Gopal, Chhappan Bhog, special makeup, Jhulan Utsav and Bhajan Sandhya were the major attractions during the festival. Amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras, Lord Sri Sri Radha Vrindavan Chandra was anointed with Panchagavya – milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar candy. Along with this, a grand Mahabhishek of the Lord was completed with 108 types of fruit juices, medicines and flowers.

For Janmashtami, Lord Shri Radha Vrindavan Chandra was made to wear black colored silk clothes, which were embroidered with silver. Nitai-Gaurang were also decorated with special ornaments and attractive garlands. The decoration of the temple and the divine makeup of the Lord fascinated the devotees.

Referring to the famous verse of Srimad Bhagwat, Temple President Chanchalapati Das said that Shri Krishna is the original source of all incarnations and the Supreme Lord Himself. Whenever the world is troubled by unrighteousness and demonic powers, God incarnates for the protection of the devotees, establishment of religion and welfare of all living beings.

He said that Lord Shri Krishna, showering his special blessings on the devotees, is also present among us in the form of Archa-Vigraha. Janmashtami is not just a celebration of the incarnation of God but also a sacred occasion to awaken love, reverence and devotion towards Him.

With the appearance of Lord Shri Krishna at 12 o’clock in the night, the temple complex echoed with devotional chants. Devotees welcomed the appearance of the Lord with chants of ‘Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna’ and chants of Shri Krishna. Devotees were seen dancing till late night in Harinam Sankirtan and Gaudiya Vaishnav music. The temple premises were fragrant with the fragrance of perfume and naturally scented incense sticks.

A large number of devotees and distinguished guests from different parts of the country including Lucknow, Agra, Delhi, Jaipur reached Vrindavan for the Janmashtami festival. Devotees experienced spiritual bliss by participating in the celebration of the divine appearance of Lord Krishna.
