England Squad Announcement: The England cricket team is currently playing a three-match Test series against Pakistan, two of which have been played. The third match will begin on September 9th. England won both matches, securing the series victory. Following this series, England will play a three-match T20I and three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at home. England has announced its squad for this series.
These players got a chance
Opener Aneurin Donald has earned his first call-up to the England squad for the T20 series against Sri Lanka. Fast bowler Henry Crocombe has been selected for his first ODI. Jamie Overton also returns, having been injured during the series against India.
But now he is returning to action for the series against Sri Lanka. Star player Phil Salt was also unavailable for the series due to a right thigh injury, and therefore was not selected. Meanwhile, Jacob Bethell underwent successful surgery on his injured knee earlier this week and was unavailable for the series. He is undergoing rehab.
Additionally, Hacky Brook will lead the T20 and ODI teams. Joe Root has also been included for the ODI series. He performed brilliantly in the recent three-match ODI series against India.
Starting September 15
The three-match T20 series between England and Sri Lanka will begin on September 15th. The second match is scheduled for September 17th and the third on September 19th. The three-match ODI series will begin on September 22nd, with the second match scheduled for September 24th and the third on September 27th. England are performing exceptionally well, having won three consecutive series. Therefore, playing against England will be a tough challenge for Sri Lanka.
