RRB NTPC 2026: There is good news from the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) for graduates aspiring to work in the railways. The Board has approved the initiation of the recruitment process for 5,165 posts under the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) 2026 drive. Approval for this recruitment was granted on Thursday. These include 3,477 graduate-level posts and 1,688 undergraduate-level posts.
The Railway Board has directed all zonal railways and production units to submit their final requisitions for recruitment based on these sanctioned posts. Details regarding application dates, age limits, educational qualifications, examination fees, and the exam schedule have not yet been released; these will become clear once the Centralized Employment Notification (CEN) is issued.
**Graduate-Level Posts Approved**
Out of the total vacancies, the Board has approved 3,477 graduate-level posts. These comprise 2,750 Traffic/Operating posts, 56 Chief Commercial-cum-Ticket Supervisor posts, 300 Junior Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist posts, and 371 Senior Clerk-cum-Typist posts.
Additionally, 1,688 appointments are designated for undergraduate-level posts. These include 200 Accounts Clerk-cum-Typist posts, 700 Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerk posts, 600 Junior Clerk-cum-Typist posts, and 188 Trains Clerk posts. These posts are distributed across various zonal railways and production units. The Railway Board has sanctioned these posts for the upcoming Centralized Employment Notification (CEN). The notification also includes vacancies for the Indian Railway Institute of Financial Management (IRIFM), Secunderabad. Final Requisition to be Submitted Between September 7 and 15
According to the Railway Board, the concerned zonal and production units will submit their final requisitions between September 7 and 15, 2026. Subsequently, the process will move forward at the Chief Personnel Officer's office level (September 16–22), the Railway Recruitment Board level (September 23–25), and the Nodal Railway Recruitment Board level (from September 26 onwards).
Application Dates Not Yet Announced
The Board has clarified that requisitions should not exceed the number of sanctioned posts. Additionally, instructions have been issued to ensure compliance with prescribed reservation norms, including those for SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories.
