New Delhi, September 5 (IANS). Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that continuous efforts should be made to make government service rules more sensitive and useful to the needs of employees and their families.
Speaking at the launch of 'CSS Shield' initiative of the Central Secretariat Services (CSS) Forum, Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that collective efforts to support the families of deceased employees can develop a new culture of standing by one's colleagues in difficult times.
This initiative is a mechanism to provide mutual support to the families of CSS officers on their demise. Under this initiative the Minister provided financial assistance to the families of late officers Mohan Chandra Bhatt and Rajendra Chandra.
He said that when colleagues come together like a family to help a bereaved family, it is a positive message not only for the organization but for the entire society. He said this initiative is in line with broader efforts to make the government system more sensitive to the needs of employees and their families.
Referring to the working style of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Minister said that it is constantly encouraged to constantly review the rules and procedures and make necessary changes where improvements are required.
According to the government, representatives of the CSS Forum informed that even before the formal launch of 'CSS Shield', the Forum has been assisting the families of deceased CSS officers through voluntary contributions.
The government said that several CSS officers had died during the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience further clarified the need for a systematic and strong system of mutual cooperation.
The Forum said that since the year 2020 till now, CSS officers have together contributed about Rs 1.30 crore, due to which financial assistance has been provided to the families of about 65 to 70 deceased officers.
According to the government, under the new initiative the forum aims to provide assistance of at least Rs 15 lakh to each bereaved family. Also, the aim is to further increase this assistance amount in future as participation increases.
