New Delhi: South-West District Police has achieved great success under 'Operation Vishwas' being run by Delhi Police to resolve the complaints of citizens and strengthen the trust in the police. The anti-snatching cell of the district has recovered 1920 lost and stolen mobile phones so far this year through technical surveillance, digital tracking and field verification. According to the police, the estimated total value of the recovered mobile phones is more than Rs 2 crore.
South-West district DCP Amit Goyal said that 702 mobile phones were recovered by conducting a special operation between July 1 and August 31, 2026. Of these, after completing the verification process, 534 mobile phones were handed over to their real owners. People expressed relief on getting their mobile back after a long time and appreciated the efforts of the police.
Search through technology and field investigation
To recover the mobile phone, the police used methods like technical analysis, surveillance through digital means, tracing of mobile information, field level verification and constant contact with the concerned people. By examining the technical information available in different complaints, action was taken to identify and recover the mobile phone.
Here is the police team
The special recovery operation was conducted by the team of Anti Snatching Cell, South-West District. The team was led by Inspector Hari Singh, in-charge of Anti Snatching Cell. The operation was monitored by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) Sandeep Ghai. The team included Assistant Sub Inspector Hoshiar Singh, Assistant Sub Inspector Virendra Kumar, Head Constable Sandeep, Head Constable Krishna and Constable Balbir.
1920 mobile phones recovered in eight months
According to police data, from January 1 to August 31, 2026, the Anti Snatching Cell has recovered a total of 1920 mobile phones. Their estimated cumulative value is more than Rs 2 crore. According to Delhi Police, the objective of 'Operation Vishwas' is to recover lost or stolen goods as well as effectively resolve citizens' complaints and strengthen police-public trust. South-West District Police has clarified that in such cases, the search for mobile phones will continue through technical resources and investigation and the recovered phones will be returned to their real owners after verification.
