Indian vice-captain and renowned batter Smriti Mandhana is poised to achieve a significant milestone as she approaches a mere 78 runs needed to surpass New Zealand's Suzie Bates, becoming the highest run-scorer in women's T20 internationals.
Mandhana recently showcased her prowess by scoring an impressive 124 runs off 64 balls against Hong Kong, solidifying her status as the leading run-scorer and century-maker in women's cricket. She will aim for this record when she faces Pakistan in the women's Asia Cup scheduled for Saturday in Dubai.
Pursuing a World Record
Throughout her career in 173 T20 matches, Mandhana has accumulated a total of 4,681 runs, maintaining an average of 30.79 across 167 innings, with a strike rate of 126.54. Her record includes two centuries and 35 half-centuries. In comparison, Suzie Bates leads with 4,758 runs from 186 T20 matches and 178 innings, averaging 28.83 with a strike rate of 108.60, which includes one century and 28 fifties.
