New Tata Osprey SUV Launched In South Africa – Price ZAR 250k (Rs 14.8 L)

In addition to launching the OSPREY in South Africa, Tata has also unveiled its new global TATA.CARS retail brand
As part of plans to boost presence in South Africa, Tata has introduced the Nexon at a starting price of ZAR 2,49,900 (Rs 14.80 lakh). Nexon goes on sale in South Africa as ‘Osprey’. It is based on the Osprey migratory bird of prey, known for its endurance and agility. As may be recalled, Tata re-entered the South African market last year, after exiting in 2019. The company has already built a strong portfolio with cars like , Curvv, Punch, Tiago and the recently launched Nexon.
Tata Osprey – Key highlights, performance
Brought to South Africa via the CBU route, most of the exterior features of Tata Osprey are largely the same as the Nexon sold in India. Colour options are also largely the same, although different names have been used for these shades. For example, the Pristine White of Nexon in India is named First Light in South Africa. Similarly, different names have been used for other colours as well. Tata Osprey is available in three trims – Smart+, Creative and Creative+ PS. While Nexon in India is available with multiple engine options, the Osprey is being offered with only the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. This engine generates 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCA) with paddle shifters. Nexon in India is also offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. CNG option is also available with the Nexon in India.
Variant-wise features
Coming to features, the Smart+ variant of Osprey in South Africa offers a 7-inch Harman touchscreen, full digital instrument cluster, 2 speakers, electrically operated ORVMs, all power windows, steering mounted control, USB charging port (Type A) and follow me home headlamps. Safety kit includes 6 airbags, electronic stability program and ISOFIX. Osprey Creative variant has additional features like rear AC vents, auto fold ORVMs, height adjustable driver seat, 4 speakers + 2 tweeters, HD rear view camera and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also included are features like a 10.25-inch Harman touchscreen, fully automatic temperature control and cruise control.
TATA.CARS global retail brand identity launched
Tata has also introduced its new unified customer-facing global retail brand identity named TATA.CARS. This will cover all Tata passenger cars including hatchbacks, SUVs and sedans across both ICE and EV segments. In South Africa, Tata operates in partnership with its distributor named Motus Holdings. TATA.CARS will play a key role in strengthening the brand’s presence in South Africa.READ NEXT
