AC Milan have opened an important new chapter in the development of girls’ football, with two women’s teams set to compete in a professional men’s league for the first time in Italy.
The Rossoneri have become the first Italian club to take this step, with the aim of offering their young female players a more competitive and demanding setting that can aid their progress and raise their standard even further.
The teams involved are the Under-15 and Under-17 age groups.
By testing themselves against boys’ teams in a professional league, the Rossonere players will have a significant opportunity to improve both technically and physically, while also adjusting to a faster pace in matches. It will allow them to assess themselves against fresh challenges and accelerate their development.
This is an innovative decision that highlights AC Milan’s commitment to investing in growth and talent development, while building the best possible conditions for their young female footballers to realise their full potential.
The age groups selected are the Under-17s and the Under-15s, who will take on the Under-14 and Under-13 boys respectively.
